So, what does a person at Upper-Intermediate / Advanced level look like?

Let’s start with the Upper-Intermediate.

Of these two groups, “Upper-intermediate / Advanced”, Upper-intermediate or Level C1 corresponds to proficient users of the language, i.e., those able to perform complex tasks related to work and study.

Level C1 Skills

One of the questions you might ask yourself when you read this information is. What language competencies characterise a person who can prove they have a level C1 in English? The CEFRL specifies the following:

  • They can understand a wide range of more demanding, longer texts and recognise implicit meaning.
  • He or she can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for the correct expression.
  • They can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. They can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing the correct use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

Now with the Advanced.

Level C2 corresponds to proficient users of the language, i.e., those able to perform complex tasks related to work and study.

Level C2 Skills

One of the questions you might ask yourself when you read this information is, what language competencies characterise a person who can prove they have a level C2 in English? The CEFRL specifies the following:

  • They can understand with ease practically everything they hear or read.
  • They can sum up information and arguments from different spoken and written sources and present them coherently and concisely.
  • He or she can express themselves freely and fluently. They can pick the differences in more delicate shades of meaning, even in more complex situations.
